How to see a Doctor

Appointments are usually made by telephoning the Medical Centre on (02) 9676 5585. In emergency situations patients are attended to immediately. If you require a longer consultation, please let the reception staff know when you book your appointment. Complex medical problems and urgent cases may increase the waiting time, your patience is appreciated in these circumstances.

Fees and billing arrangements

Doctors bulk bill on medicare.

There are some consultations that cannot be bulk billed, they are:

*    Acupuncture (unless on Pension or HCC)

*   Workers Compensation

*   Pre-placement Medical Examinations

*   Driving/Insurance Medicals

*   Services to people not covered by Medicare

Consultations with our Podiatrist are privately billed with the account to be settled on the day of consultation. We accept cash, cheque, all major credit cards and EFTPOS. If a claim is rejected by the Insurance company for Workers Compensation, the patient is responsible for full settlement of the account.

Home Visits

Home visits are available for regular patients of the Medical Centre who are living within a reasonable distance and condition prevents them from attending the Practice. Home visits can be arranged by contacting the Doctors. Please confirm fees and billing arrangements with your doctor.

After Hours

If medical attention is required outside our trading Hours please call Sydney Medical Services on (02) 8724 6300. In case of an emergency please ring 000 for an ambulance or proceed to the nearest hospital.

Telephoning your Doctor

Doctors in the Practice may be contacted during normal operating hours. If the Doctor is unavailable a message can be left and the Doctor will return your call as soon as possible. If the call is urgent, your call will be put through to a Doctor or the nurse immediately.

Reminder for Follow ups

The Doctors of this Practice will include you on our database for a reminder for pap smears, immunization and other preventative health care issues. If you do not wish to be enrolled on a reminder system, please advise your Doctor or our clinical staff.

Repeat Prescriptions, Referrals & Pathology Test Results

Doctors providing prescriptions, referrals to Specialists or pathology results are responsible ethically and legally to ensure these are correct and warranted. Therefore, a consultation with a Doctor may be necessary.

If repeat prescriptions are requested by telephone, please specify exactly the item requested, its strength and dose. Please note charges may apply and two days notice is required.

Minor Operations

In additions to standard Medical Centre services, we offer a range of minor operations including diathermy, cryotherapy and minor surgery. We suture lacerations and treat non-displaced fractures.

Medical Records and Privacy

Your medical records are confidential and are kept on the premises. Your file will be divulged only with your consent or where justified by law. We comply with the Privacy Act 2001 and other relevant legislation covering the way we collect, store and disclose health information. You are entitled to see your records at any time in the presence of a Doctor.

It may be necessary for your medical records to be disclosed to another Doctor who is providing you with treatment, tests or during activities necessary to operate our Practice.

Interpreter Services

An Interpreter can be arranged if required for patients who do not speak English. Please allow 48 hours notice prior to the consultation.

Disabled Access

Disabled access is located at the front of the building & also in a lift on Level 4 into the Medical Centre, ramps and disabled toilets are also available on the premises and in Westpoint Shopping Centre.
